Corvettes in Ocean City - 9/28/02
(this page may take a while to load - lots of pictures)

Lots of Corvettes makes for lots of fun!

800 cars were registered for the event, estimates ran as high as 2,000 for all the Vettes in town.

Most of the cars were at the municipal park at 127th street in the morning, all lined up by year...

Central Maryland Corvettes base of operations:  Ocean Mecca Hotel at 23rd Street!

Corvettes were parked in clusters everywhere, two folks joined Gene and Keenan at 128th.

Ocean City's finest led the boardwalk parade at 5:00PM.

It takes true fans to have matching hair and car colors!

OK, the hair doesn't quite match the car, but it is eye-catching...

The cars rolled by for a full hour and a half - every year from '53 to '03.  The amazing thing was the difference between the old big-blocks and the more recent cars:  sound!  Lots of people were revving the engines, but it was the old ones that got the crowd cheering.  A few rebels even laid some rubber on the boardwalk.  Officially frowned upon, but highly encouraged by the crowd. :)

As with any Corvette trip, the real fun was in the journey - waving to the other cars and seeing wide-eyed kids (future Corvette owners, no doubt) in the back of minivans.  During the trip back on 50, we were in a group of anywhere from 6 to 20+ Corvettes.  I wish I had some pictures of that to share, but I was too busy enjoying myself!
